Exceptions

In some cases, travelers may apply for a visa directly at the Embassy of Belgium, located on Limuru Road, Muthaiga, Nairobi, Kenya, but this can only be done by online appointment. The exceptions include:

  • Diplomats: Diplomats with diplomatic or service passports traveling for official purposes (with a verbal note). For private travel, diplomats and their family members should apply at TLS.
  • Family Members of Belgians: Family members (spouses, children, and grandchildren) of Belgians registered at the Embassy of Belgium in Nairobi, but only for short stays (Schengen visa). The family members must be younger than 21 or financially dependent, with proof of financial dependence demonstrated through supporting documents like bank statements from the last 6 months.
  • Family Members of EU Citizens: Family members of EU citizens, European Economic Area (EEA) citizens, Swiss citizens, or Belgian citizens returning to Belgium after more than 3 months of legal residence in another EU-member state. This also includes family members of non-EU citizens residing in the EU under Directive 2004/38/EC. Such beneficiaries must submit a visa C application, even for long stays in Belgium.

Application Forms

Travelers eligible for an Embassy application should use the following application forms:

  • Schengen Visa Application Form
  • Long Stay Visa Application Form (Not for Directive 2004/38 beneficiaries)

Ensure you use the appropriate form depending on your visa type and eligibility.

By following these guidelines and understanding the exceptions, you can successfully apply for a Belgium visa in Kenya and make your journey to Belgium a smooth and hassle-free experience.
